Oliva's Learning - W.a.l.t create a repeating pattern and know our colours.

This is a photo of Olivia and her collaged Sun. This artwork was created by Olivia as a response to the text ‘How Maui slowed the Sun’. Olivia worked very hard all week and tore, glued, or tore and glued, every square of paper used to make this collage. Even elements such as the eyes that are made of three different shapes and the mouth full of teeth were all her work. The sun’s rays were made by tracing around her hands. Initially we were going to have other room 10 students help with the process but Olivia took such ownership and pride in the project that it was all left up to her so that it would remain all her’s. The Room 10 children were incredibly proud of Olivia’s commitment to the project and perseverance over the course of the week. It seemed a huge task at the start of the week but by Friday, Olivia had truly produced something to be proud of and she was. At gathering yesterday Olivia received a certificate for demonstrating our value of perseverance. She also demonstrated commitment by committing to the task and seeing it through to completion. We now have a beautiful piece of artwork in our classroom and it complements the crayon and dye illustrations that were completed last week.
